Auburn had 34 total positive COVID-19 tests between players, coaches this summer

Auburn has administered 836 COVID-19 tests to its football team and staff this summer, with a total of just 34 positive cases since June 4, coach Gus Malzahn announced Monday.

Each of Auburn’s players was tested seven times this summer, with staff members receiving five tests apiece. In all, Auburn had 33 positive cases among its players and one case among its coaching staff. That’s a positive result rate of 3.9 percent.

The Tigers administered their most recent round of testing last week, with zero positive results. Despite no positive cases last week, Auburn will be without four players at the start of fall camp, according to Malzahn, including new punter Oscar Chapman, who arrived from Australia this weekend.
