Ohio – Ohio reports 1,291 new COVID-19 cases, 2 new coronavirus-related deaths

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Health reported 1,291 new COVID-19 cases in the state today, bringing the total number of cases to 168,749.

The number of new cases today is higher than the rolling 21-day average of daily cases, which is 1,164. These numbers include both cases confirmed by a viral test and cases that meet the CDC’s definition of probable. There have been 158,959 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date, which account for 94% of total cases.

There have now been 4,999 coronavirus-related deaths across the state, an increase of two over the previous day, lower than the 21-day average of 18.

There were 83 new cases reported in Cuyahoga County today.

The ODH reported 44 new hospitalizations today, with three ICU admissions, both of which were below the 21-day average.

As of today, 143,123 Ohioans are presumed recovered from the disease, according to the ODH.

There were 39,375 tests done on Oct. 9, the latest day this data from the ODH was available. Of those tests, 3.7% were positive, which is the same as the rolling 7-day average positivity rate. Click here for details on where to get a COVID-19 test in your area.

The median age of patients is 40 with the age range for infected patients from younger than 1 year old to 109 years old.
