CHICAGO — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who’s making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.
Here at Patch, we’ve launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.
This submission comes from Christopher Lawson Jr., who nominated his mother, Tameka Walton of Chicago.
Name: Tameka Walton
Hero’s job: Volunteer
Relationship to nominee: She is my mother
Reason for recognition: My mom is a single mom raising 5 children (one she decided to foster since COVID-19 began). She started Restored Hope ten years ago to support other mothers who are in need. She organizes diaper drives, Christmas drives and personally answers calls to help.
One thing to know: I have seen her give her last to another mom because she believed that God would provide for us, she just wants moms to know they are not alone.
Submitter name: Christopher Lawson Jr.
Thank you for all you do, Tameka Walton!
