CHICAGO — Five people were murdered and 59 people were shout and wounded in Chicago this weekend, police said.
Two teenagers were among the wounded. A 17-year-old boy was dropped off at Stroger Hospital Sunday night after being shot in the arm in the 600 block of South Central Avenue around 9:15 p.m. On Saturday night, another 17-year-old boy was shot while sitting on his front porch around 11:30 p.m. in the 4700 block of West Chicago Avenue. Four or five men wearing dark clothing approached the porch and began firing shots. The wounded teenager was dropped off at Loretto hospital where he was treated for a gunshot wound in his leg, police said.
Early Saturday, three people were shot in the 800 block of North Lorel Avenue. Police said someone got out of a black Jeep Cherokee and started shooting around 12:15 a.m. A 26-year-old man shot in the leg, neck and chest was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital. A 37-year-old man and 42-year-old woman both suffered gunshot wounds to the leg, authorities said.
About two hours later on Saturday, two men were shot on a porch in the 8500 block of South Burley Avenue when the man got out f a car and fired shots. A 33-year-old man died after being shot in the head and body. A 32-year-old man who took bullets to the abdomen and leg is in critical condition, police said.
Around 7:20 a.m. Saturday, two men were shot in the 2500 block of South Trumbull. A 43-year-old man died after being shot in the head and body, authorities said. A 30-year-old man was shot in the arm, police said.
Around 5 a.m. Saturday police found an unresponsive man who was shot in the head in the 100 block of North Mayfield. The man was later pronounced dead, police said. ‘
Early Sunday, a 27-year-old man was fatally shot in the 1800 block of South Komensky Avenue. Police said the man was shot in the chest and pelvis following an argument with the suspected shooter around 6:20 a.m.
