Louisiana reported 623 new cases of COVID-19 Monday as hospitalizations continued to decline.

The Louisiana Department of Health has recorded 143,566 cases of coronavirus since the infection was first reported in the state in March.

Two fewer needed in-patient care Monday as hospitalizations fell to 939, while 152 of those patients needed ventilators, unchanged from Sunday.

The state reported 18 more deaths for a total of 4,623, but that’s the lowest single-day total since Aug. 3.
