MONROE, La. (KNOE) – The attorneys of Timothy Williams, the victim in an alleged Monroe Police Department excessive force case, are planning a protest Tuesday, August 25th.
This comes after the District Attorney’s Office filed a bill of information charging former officer Jared Desadier.
Desadier is facing charges of second-degree battery and malfeasance in office. Williams was arrested in April.
Police say after producing a fake gun and finding drug paraphernalia, Williams ran from officers and later surrendered by laying on the ground and putting his hands behind his back.
Williams then says he was handcuffed and beaten by at least two officers.
Video shows one officer running toward Williams and kicking him in the face.
Protestors will be gathering at the Ouachita Parish Courthouse during the former officer’s arraignment at 9 a.m.
