Collins Prepared to Anchor Revamped Raiders Defense

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – JUNE 16: Defensive tackle Maliek Collins Sr. of the Las Vegas Raiders signs autographs for Cynthia Ie (L) and Jasmine Amezcua (R), both of Nevada, after some players worked out at a park on June 16, 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Training camp for all NFL teams is scheduled to start on July 28, depending on complications from the coronavirus pandemic. The Raiders plan on hosting their camp in the team’s Headquarters/Intermountain Healthcare Performance Center that is nearing completion in Henderson, Nevada, this summer, instead of in Napa, California, amid the continuing spread of COVID-19. Las Vegas Raiders coach Jon Gruden has insisted since the start of training camp that his defense will be anchored by offseason acquisition Maliek Collins. Collins says he’s prepared to accept the responsibility. Collins spent the first four years of his career with the Cowboys in Dallas, where he racked up 14.5 sacks and 54 solo tackles in 61 career games. He was joined in Las Vegas by defensive line coach Rod Marinelli, who  also came over from Dallas and spent the past four seasons helping mold the 6-foot-2, 303-pound defensive tackle.
