PITTSBURGH, PA —A lawsuit alleges that the Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurant chain is keeping the change from customer orders.
The lawsuit, filed Thursday in Allegheny County Common Pleas Court, cites two instances in Pine and Hampton townships where customers allegedly were not given the change to which they were entitled.
In the Hampton instance, Chipolte customer Bridget McMahon paid for a $15.51 order with a $20 bill but received only $4. According to the lawsuit, her receipt said she received the entire $4.49 amount she was due.
In the Pine instance, Megan Fox paid for an $8.72 steak burrito and paid with a $20 bill. Her receipt said she was given $11.28 in change, but she received only $11, according to the lawsuit.
Attorney Frank Salpietro, who filed the lawsuit, told KDKA-TV, “What we’ve learned is that they are telling people after the order their food and give their money to the cashier that they don’t have any change so they are not going to be able to give you the change.”
